The Dow Loses 33 Points Because the Market Is Getting Pulled in Different Directions

Cloudy Outlook. Stocks slipped on the cusp of the weekend, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average off 0.1% near midday Friday, while the S&P 500 was 0.2% and the Nasdaq Composite was falling 0.4%. The market is getting pulled in a number of different directions. While trade is still a concern, investors are now nervously eying increased Middle East tensions following recent oil tanker attacks. China delivered weaker economic data, while in the U.S. the latest retail sales report was a bit of a mixed bag.
