Chevron, Caterpillar share losses contribute to Dow's 40-point drop

Dragged down by declines for shares of Chevron and Caterpillar, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is declining Monday afternoon. The Dow DJIA, -0.37% was most recently trading 40 points (0.1%) lower, as shares of Chevron CVX, -2.68% and Caterpillar CAT, -2.24% are contributing to the index’s intraday decline. Chevron’s shares are off $4.35 (2.7%) while those of Caterpillar have declined $3.82, or 1.9%, combining for an approximately 54-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are Dow Inc. DOW, -2.57%, Travelers TRV, -2.16%, and Microsoft MSFT, -1.45%. A $1 move in any of the benchmark’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
