Walgreens Boots, Merck share gains lead Dow's 150-point jump

Shares of Walgreens Boots and Merck are trading higher Thursday morning, lifting the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. Shares of Walgreens Boots WBA, +0.64% and Merck MRK, +1.55% have contributed to the index’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.59% was most recently trading 153 points (0.5%) higher. Walgreens Boots’s shares have gained $0.89, or 2.2%, while those of Merck have climbed $1.90 (2.1%), combining for a roughly 18-point boost for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include Home Depot HD, +1.21%, Walmart WMT, +2.07%, and Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, +0.75%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark results in a 6.59-point swing.
