American Express, Boeing share gains lead Dow's nearly 175-point climb

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Friday afternoon with shares of American Express and Boeing leading the way for the index. The Dow DJIA, +0.27% is trading 171 points higher (0.6%), as shares of American Express AXP, +4.81% and Boeing BA, +3.57% have contributed about a quarter of the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally. American Express’s shares have gained $7.10, or 5.2%, while those of Boeing are up $5.16 (3.9%), combining for a roughly 81-point bump for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Salesforce Inc. CRM, +3.12%, Microsoft MSFT, +1.76%, and Amgen Inc. AMGN, +1.53%. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
