Visa, Microsoft share gains contribute to Dow's 225-point jump

Led by strong returns for shares of Visa and Microsoft, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Wednesday afternoon. Shares of Visa V, +6.47% and Microsoft MSFT, +4.81% are contributing to the index’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.19% is trading 227 points higher (0.7%). Visa’s shares are up $13.87 (6.9%) while those of Microsoft are up $15.68 (5.8%), combining for an approximately 195-point bump for the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the gain are Salesforce Inc. CRM, +2.70%, Caterpillar CAT, +1.74%, and Nike NKE, +0.60%. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components equates to a 6.59-point swing.
