Verizon Communications Inc., Chevron share losses lead Dow's 225-point drop

Dragged down by losses for shares of Verizon Communications Inc. and Chevron, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Monday morning. The Dow DJIA, -1.26% was most recently trading 226 points (0.7%) lower, as shares of Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -4.16% and Chevron CVX, -4.32% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. Verizon Communications Inc.’s shares have dropped $1.32, or 2.5%, while those of Chevron have fallen $3.97, or 2.5%, combining for an approximately 35-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are Boeing BA, -2.12%, Walgreens Boots WBA, -2.72%, and Dow Inc. DOW, -4.06%. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.59-point swing.
