Verizon Communications Inc., Chevron share losses contribute to Dow's 112-point fall

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is declining Monday afternoon with shares of Verizon Communications Inc. and Chevron seeing the biggest drops for the index. The Dow DJIA, +0.38% was most recently trading 112 points lower (-0.3%), as shares of Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -4.00% and Chevron CVX, -1.71% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. Verizon Communications Inc.’s shares are off $2.35, or 4.5%, while those of Chevron are off $5.15 (3.2%), combining for an approximately 49-point drag on the Dow. Nike NKE, -1.48%, Dow Inc. DOW, -0.60%, and Walgreens Boots WBA, -0.75% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index equates to a 6.59-point swing.
