Dow's 314-point drop led by losses in Chevron, Dow Inc. shares

Dragged down by losses for shares of Chevron and Dow Inc., the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Monday morning. The Dow DJIA, -1.08% was most recently trading 314 points lower (-0.9%), as shares of Chevron CVX, -3.70% and Dow Inc. DOW, -3.64% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. Chevron’s shares have dropped $5.63, or 3.5%, while those of Dow Inc. are off $2.25, or 3.3%, combining for a roughly 52-point drag on the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the decline include Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -3.20%, Walgreens Boots WBA, -2.64%, and Nike NKE, -2.71%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index equates to a 6.59-point swing.
