Eagles rumors: Would Philly have trade suitors for Jalen Hurts?

The Eagles could potentially have some trade suitors for Jalen Hurts, if they don’t appreciate the talent he possesses. Nick Sirianni may go in a different direction.

Hurts has played admirably this season for a team fighting for their playoff lives in the NFC. After beating the Washington Football Team last week, the Eagles sit at 7-7, in search of a Wild Card spot.

The Oklahoma and Alabama product has 14 passing touchdowns on the season, as well as double-digit scores on the ground. He’s been a godsend for fantasy football owners, and also the Eagles offense, which has been without several key players throughout the season.

Yet, could Sirianni move on from Hurts, a former second-round pick from the Doug Pederson era? There’s always a chance he wants his man behind center.

Eagles rumors: Jalen Hurts trade makes sense

Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press had one text exchange with an NFL front office executive who claimed to be interested in Hurts. It’s likely that executive is not alone, as Hurts has shown plenty of potential in the right offense.

If Hurts were traded, where could he go? That remains a tough answer, as the Eagles likely wouldn’t trade Hurts anywhere he could hurt them (pun not intended).

The Pittsburgh Steelers, for one, will be in need of a quarterback, but it’s unknown if Matt Canada — or whoever is running Pittsburgh’s offense at that point — would be willing to build their offense around the speed and strengths of a mobile quarterback like Hurts.

If Hurts has proven anything this season, it’s that he’s worth taking a chance on. Despite not having many assets at his disposal, Hurts has led the Eagles to respectability. That’s more than was expected of him before the season began.
