Dow up 188 points on gains for shares of 3M, Johnson & Johnson

Shares of 3M and Johnson & Johnson are trading higher Friday afternoon, lifting the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. The Dow DJIA, +0.41% was most recently trading 188 points, or 0.5%, higher, as shares of 3M MMM, +1.89% and Johnson & Johnson JNJ, +1.71% are contributing to the index’s intraday rally. 3M’s shares are up $3.62, or 2.0%, while those of Johnson & Johnson are up $2.45 (1.5%), combining for an approximately 40-point bump for the Dow. Nike NKE, +1.33%, Visa V, +0.89%, and Microsoft MSFT, +1.29% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any of the benchmark’s 30 components equates to a 6.59-point swing.
