Caterpillar, American Express share gains contribute to Dow's 150-point jump

Behind positive gains for shares of Caterpillar and American Express, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Monday morning. Shares of Caterpillar CAT, +3.70% and American Express AXP, +2.52% are contributing around 25% of the index’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.35% is trading 157 points higher (0.4%). Caterpillar’s shares are up $7.87 (3.8%) while those of American Express are up $4.34, or 2.5%, combining for a roughly 81-point bump for the Dow. Dow Inc. DOW, +0.93%, Walt Disney DIS, +1.06%, and Intel INTC, +1.53% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index results in a 6.59-point swing.
