Goldman Sachs, Microsoft share gains lead Dow's 300-point climb

Shares of Goldman Sachs and Microsoft posted positive growth Tuesday, sending the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. The Dow DJIA, +0.92% closed 306 points, or 0.9%, higher, as shares of Goldman Sachs GS, +3.12% and Microsoft MSFT, +2.00% contributed about a third of the blue-chip gauge’s rally. Goldman Sachs’s shares gained $12.07 (3.2%) while those of Microsoft were up $5.65, or 2.0%, combining for an approximately 117-point boost for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain included Nike NKE, +1.58%, JPMorgan Chase JPM, +1.63%, and UnitedHealth UNH, +1.66%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index results in a 6.58-point swing.
