Dow up 250 pts premarket with DC news in spotlight

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index gained over 250 points in premarket on Thursday as the United States Senate prepares to approve a two-month funding bill that will prevent a government shutdown. Also, the US and the EU agreed on trade and semiconductor supply chain cooperation, possibly adding to positive market sentiment. However, uncertainty about the federal debt limit and the Democrats’ social spending package remained.

The Dow Jones climbed 0.80%, or 275 points, at 4:08 am ET, while the S&P 500 grew by 0.83% concurrently. The Nasdaq 100 was 0.85% up one minute later.

The euro rose by 0.08% against the dollar to go for 1.16070 at 4:09 am ET.
