Boeing, Merck share gains contribute to Dow's 69-point climb

Shares of Boeing and Merck are seeing strong returns Wednesday afternoon, lifting the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. The Dow DJIA, +0.36% is trading 69 points, or 0.2%, higher, as shares of Boeing BA, +3.48% and Merck MRK, +1.77% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally. Boeing’s shares have climbed $6.85 (3.1%) while those of Merck have climbed $1.18 (1.6%), combining for a roughly 53-point bump for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include Amgen Inc. AMGN, +1.30%, IBM IBM, +1.34%, and Travelers TRV, +1.03%. A $1 move in any of the benchmark’s 30 components results in a 6.58-point swing.
