Stocks opened higher Monday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 attempting to snap five-day losing streaks after both indexes saw their biggest weekly drops since June. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 208 points, or 0.6%, at 34,815, while the S&P 500 gained 27 points, or 0.6%, to 4,485. The Nasdaq Composite was up 65 points, or 0.4%, at 15,180. The Dow retreated 2.2% last week, while the S&P 500 declined 1.7% — the largest weekly declines for both indexes since the week ended June 18, according to Dow Jones Market Data.
