Nike, Dow Inc. share losses contribute to Dow's 100-point fall

Behind declines for shares of Nike and Dow Inc., the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Wednesday morning. The Dow DJIA, -0.46% was most recently trading 102 points (0.3%) lower, as shares of Nike NKE, -1.73% and Dow Inc. DOW, -1.84% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. Nike’s shares are down $2.21 (1.4%) while those of Dow Inc. are off $0.83 (1.3%), combining for an approximately 20-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are Caterpillar CAT, -1.63%, Merck MRK, -1.00%, and American Express AXP, -1.82%. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components results in a 6.58-point swing.
