Chevron, Dow Inc. share gains contribute to Dow's nearly 200-point climb

Behind strong returns for shares of Chevron and Dow Inc., the Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Friday morning. Shares of Chevron CVX, +2.19% and Dow Inc. DOW, +2.48% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.64% was most recently trading 198 points (0.6%) higher. Chevron’s shares have climbed $1.83 (1.9%) while those of Dow Inc. are up $1.20, or 1.9%, combining for a roughly 20-point bump for the Dow. Boeing BA, +2.56%, American Express AXP, +1.87%, and Goldman Sachs GS, +1.45% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components equates to a 6.58-point swing.
