Dow down 88 points on losses for shares of Caterpillar, Boeing

Dragged down by negative returns for shares of Caterpillar and Boeing, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Wednesday afternoon. Shares of Caterpillar CAT, -2.24% and Boeing BA, -1.89% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, -0.41% was most recently trading 88 points, or 0.3%, lower. Caterpillar’s shares have dropped $4.56 (1.9%) while those of Boeing are off $3.32, or 1.3%, combining for a roughly 52-point drag on the Dow. Also contributing significantly to the decline are JPMorgan Chase JPM, -1.15%, American Express AXP, -1.53%, and Nike NKE, -1.15%. A $1 move in any of the Dow’s 30 components results in a 6.58-point swing.
